The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) reports that registration is now open for its 2014 State Policy and Payment Forum. According to an APTA news release, the significant state issues that directly affect physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs), such as copay legislation, health care reform implementation, dry needling, and scope of practice, will be the focus of the event. Registration is now open for the members-only gathering, which will be September 13 to 15 in Seattle, Wash.

The forum is designed to increase PT and PTA involvement in and knowledge of state legislative and payment issues that have an impact on the practice of physical therapy, as indicated on the APTA news release. The forum is also designed to improve legislative, regulatory, and payment advocacy efforts at the state level.

The 2014 State Policy and Payment Forum will include presentations on current advocacy efforts in the states as well as a case study on state legislation, a session on infringement from other providers, and two luncheon speakers: Washington State Rep Laurie Jenkins and Mark McClellan, MD, PhD, director of health care innovation and value Initiative at the Brookings Institution.

Registration is online only. For additional event information or to register, visit http://www.apta.org/stateforum.
